A.J. Kandy is a Canadian designer, actor, writer, voiceover artist and improviser.

He’s a founding member of Alacrity, a Chicago-style long-form troupe at Calgary’s Kinkonauts improv collective. Catch them at the 2019 Calgary Fringe!

During the daytime, he’s the Lead UX Designer at Hitachi ID Systems, a maker of IT management and security software.

He’s been working in design for over 25 years, for companies including SMART Technologies, LVL Studio, Peterson/Kandy, and Wall Street Games.

Clients he’s worked for include TELUS, Bell, CBC Television, the TED Conference, Sympatico, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, and La Presse.

His obsession with design started with Montreal’s Metro system, Expo 67 and the typeface Univers.

A.J. Kandy is a Canadian designer, actor, writer, voiceover artist and improviser.

During the daytime, he’s the Lead UX Designer at Hitachi ID Systems, a maker of enterprise identity management software.

He’s been working in design for over 25 years, for companies including SMART Technologies, LVL Studio, Peterson/Kandy, and Wall Street Games.

Clients he’s worked for include TELUS, Bell, CBC Television, the TED Conference, Sympatico, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, and La Presse.

Projects he’s worked on include web application user interfaces, TV set-top box and Smart TV applications, iOS and responsive mobile apps, brand identity systems, online stock trading systems, digital news apps, e-commerce sites, and more.

He’s also a founding member of Alacrity, a Chicago-style long-form improv troupe who perform at Calgary’s Kinkonauts improv collective. Alacrity performed in the 2018 Ignite Festival, and appear in the latest edition of the community performance art movie, The Democratic Set.

Their next appearance is in the 2019 Calgary Fringe Festival with a show entitled ALBERTA 114!

A.J. started performing at McGill University’s TheatreSports troupe in the 1990s. As part of the sketch comedy troupe the Free Fall Iguanas, he co-wrote and performed in three consecutive Montreal Fringe Festival shows, and countless gigs at The Comedy Nest.

Since moving out West, he’s studied advanced improvisation with Owen Chan, Covy Holland, Stephen Kent, Laura Tennisco and Nicole Zylstra; acting scene study with Aaron Coates (Company of Rogues); voice acting with Steve Blum (Star Wars Rebels, Cowboy Bebop); and sketch comedy writing with Kevin McDonald (Kids in the Hall).
