Immune Receptor are receptor proteins, usually existing in the cell membrane or intracellular of immune cells, which bind to specific extracellular signaling molecules (ligands) and cause a response in the immune system. The main immune receptors are Toll-like receptors (TLRs), B cell receptors, T cell receptors, pattern recognition receptors (PRRs), killer activation and inhibitory receptors (KARs and KIRs), and complement receptors. Immune Checkpoints are immune receptors which can inhibit or stimulate signals to balance the immune responses and play a significant role in tumor immunotherapy. Blocking inhibitory immune checkpoints or activating stimulatory immune checkpoints has been proved to be an effective method for restoring effective immune surveillance and antitumor immune responses.
