Miriam is an author, artist, developer, and open web advocate. She’s spent more than 15 years learning, teaching, and building web software as a co-founder of OddBird, Invited Expert with the W3C CSS Working Group, and member of the Sass core team.

Full biography

Miriam Suzanne is an author, artist, developer, and open web advocate living in Denver, Colorado. She’s a co-founder of OddBird web agency, a member of the Sass core team, and a W3C Invited Expert on the CSS Working Group.

Miriam has been building web sites, applications, and design systems since the early days of CSS. After creating Susy for responsive layouts in 2009, she joined the Sass core team. In 2020 she also joined the W3C as an Invited Expert on the CSS Working Group, developing new features like Cascade Layers, Container Queries, and Scope.

Miriam is a prolific teacher – offering CSS workshops, and speaking at conferences around the world. She’s a co-author of Sitepoint’s Jump Start Sass, a former staff writer for CSS Tricks, and was a founding teacher on the Mozilla Developer youtube channel.

Offline, Miriam is a playwright & author of Riding SideSaddle* (SpringGun Press, 2015), a musician with Teacup Gorilla, and a co-founder of Grapefruit Lab. She won the 2017 True West Award for 10 Myths on the Proper Application of Beauty Products, the stage adaptation of her novel.
