Una estrella del pop es abandonada por su prometido, una estrella del rock, momentos antes de su boda en el Madison Square Garden, por lo que decide casarse con un hombre que selecciona aleatoriamente entre el público.
Vuelven las pesquisas del célebre detective Hércules Poirot. Esta vez, durante un viaje en crucero por el Nilo, Poirot deberá investigar el misterioso asesinato de una joven heredera sin explicación aparente. Esta secuela de Asesinato en el Orient Express (2017) es la adaptación de la novela Cásate conmigo (1937) de Agatha Christie.
Durante una misión en el espacio en el 2011, los astronautas Jo Fowler (Halle Berry) y Brian Harper (Patrick Wilson), son atacados por una fuerza desconocida que más tarde verán aterrizar en la superficie de la Luna.
Diez años más tarde, y habiendo dejado claro que la NASA no cree a Harper, descubren que la órbita de la Luna está cambiando y que impactará contra la Tierra durante las próximas semanas. Los ahora ex astronautas, Fowler y Harper, idean un plan con la ayuda del teórico conspiranoico KC Houseman (John Bradley) para salvar a la humanidad: poner rumbo a la luna para enfrentarse a aquello que amenaza con destruirles.
Crítica de la película Cásate conmigo de Roland Emmerich
Cualquiera que conozca mínimamente la filmografía de Roland Emmerich podría llegar a pensar que tiene algo en contra de la humanidad. Algunas de sus obras más conocidas y taquilleras hablan sobre catástrofes, destrucción del planeta, erradicar la raza humana y, mientras tanto, solucionar algún que otro drama familiar. Seguramente te sonarán títulos como Independence Day (1996), El día de mañana (2004), 2012 (2009) o Independence Day: Contraataque (2016).
Para empezar el 2022 con ganas, que ya toca, Emmerich ha decidido que este año destruirá el planeta con la propia luna. La cinta, titulada Cásate conmigo, y que llegará a la gran pantalla este viernes 4 de febrero de 2022, goza de un apartado técnico sensacional en cuanto a efectos especiales y fotografía, sin embargo, deja en evidencia un guion simple y cargado de tópicos
Un guion que deja mucho que desear
Emmerich ha utilizado muchas veces la misma fórmula al escribir y dirigir películas de catástrofes y de acción y, aunque es verdad que cuando vemos una cinta de este género no buscamos que tenga una gran trasfondo, en muchas ocasiones su guion, así como sus diálogos, dejan mucho que desear. Y ese es el caso de la película Cásate conmigo. Desde el patriotismo hasta intentar llegar a la lágrima fácil con personajes poco desarrollados con los que apenas has llegado a empatizar y con los que tu reacción por su muerte inminente es más bien la indiferencia. En este último trabajo imperan ambas cosas.
Unos personajes bastante planos
Si bien los tres personajes principales están bien defendidos por los actores que los interpretan –Halle Berry, Patrick Wilson y John Bradley– el resto son puro relleno y sus actuaciones dejan mucho que desear. Pero eso no es culpa solo de ellos, sino de los personajes planos que se han construido para el guion, puramente vehiculares y con la única motivación de sobrevivir. El director alemán los usa para llevar a cabo una cinta de dos horas de metraje totalmente predecible cargada de tópicos en los diálogos así como de patriotismo barato; cómo olvidar cuando Halle Berry dice que ella “trabaja para el pueblo americano”, y no para su superior, el director de la NASA.
Apartado técnico y artístico sensacional
Si hay algo en esta película que destaca es el apartado técnico y artístico, como suele pasar en muchas de ellas. Mi recomendación es, y más si disfrutas con películas de este género, es verla en pantalla grande, y si puede ser en salas especiales como la Isense o la 4DX en los multicines Cinesa, pues la experiencia será mucho mejor. Es bastante evidente que la mayor parte del presupuesto se ha invertido en los efectos especiales, cuidados y bastante buenos, así como la fotografía a manos de Robby Baumgartner.
El 80% de la cinta o son explosiones, o el espacio o cohetes que se dirigen a él así que era de esperar que en una película de este género estos aspectos fueran su punto fuerte y en el que más se han centrado, por lo que parece que sus personajes y su narrativa han quedado en un segundo plano como analizaba unas líneas antes. Aún con todo esto, Emmerich logra que esas dos horas que está en pantalla sean dinámicas y bastante entretenidas.
Opinión final de la película Cásate conmigo (2022)
En resumen, la película Cásate conmigo pasará a tener un puesto en una larga lista sobre películas de catástrofes que se esfuerzan por acabar con el planeta y la raza humana. Emmerich, experto ya en el asunto, no consigue despuntar con esta cinta sobre anteriores trabajos suyos, como sucedió con Independence Day (1996) en su día.
Fans de la destrucción y las explosiones, no dudéis en ir a verla, y si es en una pantalla grande, mucho mejor, sin embargo, no esperéis una gran narrativa construida alrededor del impacto de la luna sobre la Tierra, quien avisa no es traidor.
