A presentation at Ignite Workshops in in Belfast, UK by Mr Murphy
Even if you ‘can’t write’, I’ll help you to navigate the world of words – and other forms of content – so that you can share the story of your business via content marketing, a powerful form of marketing that’s focused on creating, publishing and distributing content targeted to audiences online.
But what is content marketing, exactly? Here’s the Content Marketing Institute’s definition:
“Content marketing is a strategic marketing approach focused on creating and distributing valuable, relevant and consistent content to attract and retain a clearly defined audience and, ultimately, to drive profitable customer action.”
I believe it’s important for educators to practice what they preach, so I’ll show you examples of content marketing projects I’ve worked on across my career in addition to highlighting strategies used by others. Put simply: Everything I’ll cover is tried and tested and proven to work.
I’ll also equip you with a framework that you can use to kickstart your own content-driven marketing to raise awareness of you and your product. In short: The workshop will be hands-on and practical, and you’ll leave with everything you need to promote your business via the web and other channels effectively.
If you’d like me to run this workshop for you – I have half-day and full-day versions of it – please do get in touch. I’d be happy to have a chat with zero obligation and we could find a cost approach that works for you.
I work with companies, large and small, helping them to launch and thrive. I encourage small businesses to think big and I enable big businesses to think small. Above all, as an educator, I enjoy helping people. Maybe that’s you?
The following resources were mentioned during the presentation or are useful additional information.
There are hundreds of books on content marketing. If I had to recommend one – from 2013, but still full of useful content (written in a no nonsense style) – it would be Gary Vaynerchuk’s ‘Jab, Jab, Jab…’. Vaynerchuk is an entertaining speaker also, although – like me – he has a tendency to swear.
If you’re developing content (particularly lead magnets) – and you aren’t a designer – it can be a challenge to find a tool that will take care of the design for you. I’d strongly recommend Beacon. As the Beacon team put it: “Beacon simplifies the lead magnet creation process so you can take full control of the design.”
A beginner account is free forever and they offer other very reasonably priced plans that are worth exploring.
Beacon’s founder, Kevin McGrath, is one of my graduates and he’s 100% committed to the platform and I have no doubt he’d take care of you. Tell him I sent you.
