Make it pop!
THE WORK WE CREATE IS NOT INTENDED FOR THE CLIENTS, BUT THE USERS OF THAT PRODUCT.
OUR JOB: design a solution that solves the user’s problem & makes the client money
Where did it go wrong?
WE’RE NOT DOING CLIENTS, OR OURSELVES A FAVOR BY OFFERING MULTIPLE OPTIONS.
“What do you like?” IS THE WRONG QUESTION TO ASK.
MISTAKE #1 We rely on hope
YOU CAN’T BASE YOUR BUSINESS ON HOPE ALONE.
EXPLAIN HOW YOUR PROCESS WORKS, AND HOW TO PROVIDE RELEVANT FEEDBACK.
LEAD YOUR CLIENTS THROUGH YOUR PROCESS SO THEY CAN IMAGINE WHAT IT’S LIKE.
[WORDPRESS SCREENSHOT?]
COLLECT INFORMATION IN ADVANCE AND REDUCE THE NEED FOR FEEDBACK.
MISTAKE #2 We take our experience for granted
YOU NEED TO BE ABLE TO SUPPORT ALL YOUR DECISIONS WITH SOLID ARGUMENTS THAT MAKE SENSE TO THE CLIENT.
PRESENT YOUR WORK IN CONTEXT.
PROVE YOU’RE A PRO AT EVERY STEP.
GET THE CLIENT TO CONFIRM IN WRITING
SELL YOUR SOLUTION TO THE CLIENT.
BE CLEAR FROM THE VERY BEGINNING ABOUT HOW YOU WORK.
JUST BECAUSE IT’S A STANDARD PRACTICE, IT DOESN’T MEAN IT’S GOOD FOR YOU.
REGULARLY TEST, ITERATE & IMPROVE YOUR PROCESS.
