A presentation at GDS Frontend community Meeting in in London, UK by Matt Hobbs
This is a presentation I gave internally to the Frontend Community at GDS. In 2019, Frontend Development wasn’t a recognised Job role across the UK Civil Service. This is a presentation to update the community as to where we were in the process and what was left to do. It took a couple of years, but Frontend Development is now a distinct job role in the Digital, Data, and Technology Profession (DDaT)
The following resources were mentioned during the presentation or are useful additional information.
This is the latest version of what a Frontend Developer’s job role entails in the UK Civil Service.
Tweet thread with some reactions to the publication of Frontend Development in Digital, Data, and Technology Profession (DDaT).
Blog post I wrote to give Service Teams across government a reference point as to why their team should hire a Frontend Developer, including what the job role brings to the table.
