I spent my childhood watching the Power Rangers. When I grew up I discovered that the combat and giant robot footage from my favorite TV show was actually sourced from a Japanese Show called Super Sentai.

In this talk, I’ll build a fan site documenting the history of the show using Flask. I’ll deploy that Flask site onto AWS lambda and then provide insights into performance & cost concerns associated with using Lambda via Datadog.

The serverless architectures allow me to deploy backend code quickly, and decouple services (like content, site login, etc.) to work on one thing without affecting another. “80% of the work is done by other companies for very little cost” @ShyRuparel #codedaze2018

This conversation makes me think a bit about the “build v. buy” conversation. Serverless lets you buy the 80% of your work that’s standard and uninteresting, letting you really focus on your differentiators.
