A presentation at UXcamp Europe 2025 in in Berlin, Germany by Rik Williams
GOV.UK is the 7th most visited domain in the UK. But its fundamental information architecture is more than 13 years old. There’s a growing need to revisit how its content is structured, in particular its fundamental content model, so that it can evolve to meet user needs in a changing, multichannel, world. This session outlines the opportunity for government and provides practical lenses for those wrangling with content-first design.
The following resources were mentioned during the presentation or are useful additional information.

The distinction between content design in design systems vs. content design systems was brilliant.
This year’s only session focused on design systems, content design and UX writing.”
“I especially enjoyed the sessions about storytelling habits by Ben Sauer, and content design systems by Rik Williams.”

“My favourite session this year [at UX Camp Europe]! I loved how you injected some levity into serious design conundrums and outcomes for users.”
